Covid crises as opportunity

As a system supplier of complex plant and transport technology for large steel structures, we at IMG Ingenieurtechnik und Maschinenbau GmbH work constantly on new innovations to enable customers to produce efficiently. Especially in difficult times like this year, we concentrate on further developments. Therefore IMG, as consortium leader, has started the research project “IntRobAS – Intelligent Robot Systems in One-off Production in Shipbuilding”.

Problem statement:
The one-off production found in shipbuilding leads to an unfavorable ratio between programming time and program runtime when robots are used with conventional offline programming. The high manufacturing and assembly tolerances of the components also require complex adjustments to the robot programs created offline.

Objective:
Development of an intelligent robot system for #welding #shipbuilding structures made of steel, aluminum, and stainless steel with automatic 3D sensor data evaluation to generate the robot programs.

Potential:
Versatile, intelligent, and modular robot system with high degree of automation.
